Texas is full of lakes, swimming holes & pools! If you’re traveling to Texas, or live here like us, peace of mind by the water can happen if you follow these water safety tips for kids!

Tip 2: Stay Hydrated!

West Texas is HOT & we’ve learned that we really do need to add in electrolytes to our hydration routine every day! Especially when you’re having fun by the water, you might forget about this!

Tip 3: Life Jackets & Swim Lessons

I know there is a big debate over this, but here is what I truly believe:

  1. Swim Lessons are the absolute best way to keep your kids safe near the water. Puddle Jumpers/Swimmies may seem nice but will teach your kids the improper position while swimming.

  2. If you are in open water (lakes, oceans, etc.) ALWAYS wear a proper coastguard-approved life jacket!

4.Wear Bright Colors

  • Bright colors help lifeguards & adults spot kids in the water more easily! Think bright yellows, oranges & pink! (White & Light Blue are hardest to spot!)

  • We love Rash Guards like this one to help block out the sun with extra UPF 50 protection!

5. Keep the Towels under the arms!!

If you’ve ever fallen in the water with clothes on, you know it can feel heavy. Imagine a towel around your shoulders. Never wrap a towel around your child’s shoulders, should they fall in, they don’t have use of their arms & the towel becomes heavy really quickly!!
